Meet our Director, Opio Peter
Peter has worked at Doors
Ministries for the past 5 years. He was brought on staff originally as
an Uncle (house parent) in the Doors Boys’ Home. His faithful dedication to the
children and incredible social work skills quickly earned him promotions in the
ministry. He moved from Home Uncle to Doors Home Administrator to Ministry
Social Worker, to finally now, Director (since March 2017).
He believes in the future of Doors because of a God-given dream he had
even before this transition took place. He dreamt that the organization was
facing a decision and closing; that finances became too strained to continue
operating and the future of Doors in Uganda was in jeopardy. In his dream he
remembers thinking, “This ministry is
meant to support and help children in need. God I know you will make a way when
there seems to be no way. I will stand.”
In the dream, Peter saw the ministry grow into a very powerful and great
organization that helped many neglected children on the streets and in
impoverished communities.” Doors praises God that Peter has indeed stood with
Doors Ministries. We believe this dream was God-given to prepare Peter for the
role he now finds himself in through this transition.
According to Peter, he is dedicated
to see “Doors transform the lives of
vulnerable children and former street children into future leaders.”
“Thank
you for loving and supporting these neglected children and restoring hope for a
better future with God.” -Peter, to all Doors supporters and partners
